Abstract

Predictive AI is revolutionizing healthcare by making diagnoses more accurate and more customized, both AI developed drugs and precision medicine are bleeding into the medical industry. Advances in machine learning: specifically, deep learning and natural language processing, together with multimodal data integration have unlocked the potential for AI to process large amounts of heterogeneous medical information (gene basedomics, image-based diagnostics, clinical history) that can be used for early disease prevention or early risk stratification and individualized treatment algorithms. But it is considerable what must be overcome for AI to enter into the clinical pace with factor like data quality, bias and interpretation of the algorithm, criteria and trust regulation (and ethic) and integration into the workflow. Together with the applications, pros and cons we discuss the progress of AI in predictive analytics, diagnostics and personalized medicine as well as future directions for a safe and equitable adoption by all.
